According to the forming status of co-extrusion materials, there are two types of plastic profile extrusion line, forward and back. Forward means two types of materials become composite status before completely formed. Back means one type of materials, which is completely formed, is combined with other type of materials. The advantage of back one is economic and is easy to recycle wastes.

According to the differences of ingredients, there are two types of plastic profile extrusion line, organic and inorganic. Organic co-extrusion materials include forward co-extrusion of two similar materials, such as refined materials with adulteration of recycled materials, and two different materials, such as forward co-extrusion of PMMA and PVC, back co-extrusion of soft and hard PVC. Inorganic one is divided into co-extrusion of plastic and aluminum, plastic and steel.
